History of the Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport

It was in the year 1924 when ongoing development surrounding the Warsaw's airdrome caused air traffic. To resolve the issue, construction of a Central Airport in Okecie was necessary. Come year 1933, the village of Okecie was destroyed because it was used as a battleground for Polish resistance and the German Army. When the war has subsided, operation at the new airport was resumed. With the succeeding years, the airport flourished and was able to serve millions of passengers year after year. It was on March 2001 when Warsaw Airport was officially named, Frederic Chopin Airport.

Information about the new Warsaw Airport's terminal

The Warsaw Airport has four existing terminals. Recently added was Terminal 2 which is actually the airport's fourth terminal. First terminals are named: Terminal one, Krajowy and Eituda. The construction of the new Terminal 2 combined with Terminal 1 was projected to accommodate a capacity of 10 to 12 million passengers per year. The new terminal was set to open December 2007 but it did not push through since it failed the fire inspection last October 2007. Finally, by March 2007, the Terminal 2 is scheduled to be opened to public.
