Arkadius Weremczuk – Warsaw’s Trendsetter
It has only been recently, that Poland has started to build its fashion scene. And they owe much of it from Arkadius Weremczuk, Poland’s hottest young fashion designer. After studying fashion design in some of Europe’s finest design schools and working for Alexander McQueen, Arkadius then went back to his homeland to start boutiques that is truly high-class. Arkadius’ designs usually are for young urbanites with designs and cuts that tickle the imagination. His store in Warsaw - Arkadius Anarchy, attracts passersby with its avant-garde interiors. His store also comes with a vodka bar.
Role-model for Young Fashion Designers
Katarzyna Szczotarska’s (“show-tar-ska”,) story is one for the books. She has become the role model of young people with designer dreams in Warsaw. Moving out of Poland to London in the late 80’s to study English, Katarzyna found herself enchanted by London’s elegance. She then switched to studying design at London College of Fashion. From there, her star has shined and her designs, which usually ranges from casual to avant-garde, has left critiques speechless. She has been awarded the Top Shop New Generation Designer Award in 2001 and New Generation Award in 2003 which enabled her to showcase her designs at the 2003 London Fashion Week. She is soon to open her much-awaited shop in Warsaw.
