The internationally acclaimed Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music is Poland's leading forum for presenting contemporary classical music from around the world. The majority of concerts takes place at the National Philharmonia Hall and the Zacheta Gallery.

Established in 1956, the festival tuned listeners' ears to the sounds of Schonberg, Berg and Webern, Bela Bartók and Igor Strawiński for decades, whilst keeping up with the developments of the avant- garde experiments of Boulez, Nono, Dalapiccola, Maderna and John Cage.

The festival concerts were always attended by many composers, performers and music theorists from around Poland and Europe. Thus, it does not come as a surprise that the festival soon became world renown and achieved the status of being one of the most important musical events

Whether you're an ardent follower of contemporary music, or just curious about it, this festival is a fantastic way of exploring what is going on in the modern music world. The festival takes place every September.
