Meetings Festival of Theatre Festivals

The "Meetings" Festival of Theatre Festivals is an international review of the most interesting domestic and foreign productions. It is held in the Teatr Dramatyczny and features stagings by some of the masters of contemporary theatre.

Organizers have sought to make the Meetings into an event that provides for a dialogue between various theatrical languages. For this reason represented ensembles include those which ask difficult questions in their plays. The Teatr Dramatyczny has hosted, among others, Volksbühne from Berlin, The Wooster Group, and the British dance group known as the DV8 Physical Theatre.

The Meetings are a panorama of the many faces of theatre that invariably explores issues of paramount importance - the identity of Man, history, contemporary times, war and violence, human memory, and human frustration.

Number of satellite events accompanies the Meetings, among them different retrospectives, public meetings with the artists and staged readings of Polish and foreign contemporary plays.
