Zachęta National Gallery of Art is the oldest exhibition site in Warsaw, with a tradition stretching back to the mid 19th Century. It is located in the heart of Warsaw, next to the Saski Park, and in the immediate vicinity of the University of Warsaw and the Academy of the Fine Arts.
Zachęta Gallery was founded with the aim of the promotion of the Fine Arts. Its primary current mission is the presentation and promotion of contemporary art. Zachęta organises individual and group exhibitions of Polish and overseas' artists, as well as theme exhibitions. Zachęta's curators are also the organisers of exhibitions of Polish art abroad.
