This is one of the premier museums of the area.

The Museum's holdings originated from a collection of paintings and drawings presented by the School of Fine Arts in 1864 as well as from the collection of King Stanislaw August and of the Warsaw Society of Friends of the Sciences.

Over time the holdings grew through purchases and gifts, and nowadays the Museum boasts masterpieces of Polish and foreign painting, sculpture, decorative arts and numismatics spanning ancient and modern times, and preserved in designated departments and galleries.

The two galleries of Polish Painters are really worth a visit. You may not have heard of the artists, but you will find works which will capture your imagination

High profile temporary exhibitions consistently grace these halls.

The museum building is notable in its own right and it's one of the few central Warsaw buildings to survive World War II.

This is my one of my favorite museum in location. Its building is a mixture of the ancient and conventional structure, nicely done! There was interesting and educational performances while I was there, it was fun. nofollow
